2014 Destiny Bay Magna Praemia
$1,790.00
Destiny Bay's wines are hand crafted to the highest standard. Sophisticated equipment and cutting edge science combine to create wines that have been compared to some of the great French Chateaux. Vines are lightly cropped (1.4 – 2.2 tonnes an Acre in 2014 ) and each berry is hand selected for vinification. Magna Praemia, meaning 'Great Rewards', is Destiny Bay's flagship wine featuring all five classic Bordeaux varietals with Cabernet Sauvignon the prominent grape. Robert Parkers Wine Advocate describes this wine as an ''Iron Fist in a Velvet Glove''.
74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc, 5% Petit Verdot, 3% Malbec
Spicy star anise and primary bramble fruit on the nose with a slight tinge of peppercorn and dried herb aromas lingering.
This extremely low cropped 2014 harvest resulted in intense concentration and robust wines that will reward patients unlike no other previous vintage. This richly textured wine with tremendously powerful structure disguises an array of intricate flavours resembling dark plum and liqourice. Extreme length with hints of spicey dried raisons and currents.
Last tasted June 2017. Already delicious, however will require some time (15-25+ years) to reach optimum drinking.
