2017 Coxs' Vineyard Pinot Noir

2017 Coxs' Vineyard Pinot Noir

Coxs' Vineyard, located toward the Eastern end of the Gibbston Valley, rests on a North facing Terrace atop wind blown glacial soils and a 6 meter rocky outwash of alluvial schist. Planted as a contract vineyard by Doug Cox in 1999, Coxs' fruit has attracted an A-list clientele (Peregrine, Burn Cottage, Takapoto and Grahame Norton's Invivo) and is renowned for its infallible expression of Gibbston's most admirable qualities; Lifted aromatics, crisp freshness, vibrant structure and silky tannins. Nearly twenty years on, next generation Simon Cox and his young family are the new custodians of Coxs' Vineyard. While the focus still remains very much on producing the best fruit possible, that fruit now produces a classic Gibbston Single Vineyard Pinot Noir… And it's exclusively available here at Onsite Wine.

Category: Pinot Noir

With classic Gibbston aromatics, this wine is tremendously feminine with perfumed aromas and subtle spice. The palate is elegant, displaying structure and poise. There’s a sublte earthiness lingering under rich red cherry and raspberry flavours.  The minerality from the schisty soils sits comfortably on its bright acidic backbone.  Lovely length drawn way out with the assistance of those silky Gibbston tannins.
