2022 Felton Road Cornish Point Pinot Noir

$140.00

Considered by many as new Zealand's benchmark Pinot Noir, Felton Road wines are renowned throughout the world for their unblemished quality. Their philosophy is driven by sustainability and the wines are produced by way of biodynamic viticultural practices in harmony with their land, the stars and the moon. The winery is three-tier gravity fed to accommodate a 'hands off' approach throughout these crucial stages of production. Minimal human intervention during the winemaking process allows the fruit to better express itself through the unique characteristics of its origins.

This Single Vineyrd Pinot Noir derives from the 7.6 ha Cornish Point Vineyard, a former gold mining site in Bannockburn. The peninsula shaped site is bordered by the Clutha and Kawarau rivers, almost completely surrounding it by water. The soils are moderately deep, wind blown fine sandy loams lying above terrace river gravels laced with ancient silt.

Category: Pinot Noir

How can one not love that instant bath of flowers, fruits and spice that this wine delivers? No holding back, no reticence at all, just a wash of Cornish Point indulgence - all leading to a flowing silky finish. Through the entire palate there is a gentle mineral seam that stops anything from tipping over into excess, so it seduces rather than hollers. There will be no lack of complexity to come for those with patience, but it is very hard to resist now.

FELTON ROAD WINES CORNISH POINT PINOT NOIR 2022

95/100

First impression is of a seductively light wine that quickly builds greater intensity revealing a medley of floral, fruit and spice flavours wrapped around a core of sweet tannins and fruity acidity that lingers tantalisingly on a lengthy finish. Supple wine with a silken texture.
