2013 Craggy Range Le Sol

$229.00
(0 In Stock)

Nestled under Te Mata Peak in Hawke's Bay, Craggy Range is widely regarded as this regions finest producer. Established in 1998, premium sites were selected to express each vineyards unique attributes through the wines derived from them.
Their flagship Syrah Le Sol is grown in the esteemed Gimblett Gravels Wine Growing District.  This unique sub-region lies on the former bed of the Ngaruroro River in Hawke’s Bay, exposed by floods in 1876. The gravels contain a combination of warm river stones and sandy alluvial soils that both insulate the vines in winter and retain extra heat during summer. Le Sol ('the soil'), is New Zealand's most iconic Syrah.

Category: Syrah

Born of a Hermitage clone brought to New Zealand in the 1840’s, the 2013 version of this legendary Syrah is vibrantly aromatic with lifted notes of black berries, pepper spice and violets.

The mouthfeel is luscious and full bodied . The tannic structure is beginning to soften which supports a balanced, well poised and harmonious flavour profile. Characteristics are complex with forward fruit supporting less obvious liquorice, cooking spices and French oak.

Rich and piquant on the back palate, finishing long and clean.

Last tasted June 2018. Still some way to go for this Syrah to develop fully. 4-10+ years
